Josplay Entertainment Ltd., Africa’s premium music streaming platform, has announced a landmark partnership with Merchbase Ltd., a leading merchandise creation and e-commerce company, as the official merchandising sponsor of the Josplay Artist Rise Fund.
Through this collaboration, Merchbase will design, produce, and manage exclusive merchandise collections for winners of the Josplay Rise Fund, offering them a new way to build revenue and connect with fans. Each winner will receive:
- A personalized online merchandise store, fully hosted and managed by Merchbase
- A custom merch collection of 3–4 items (e.g., T-shirts, hoodies, tote bags) co-designed with the artist
- Full production, sales, fulfilment, and global delivery at zero cost to the artist
- 100% of net profits from all merchandise sales
This partnership extends across three Rise Fund cycles, ensuring multiple artists benefit from both financial support and brand development. In addition, Merchbase will conduct educational webinars to equip artists with knowledge on merchandise strategy and fan monetization.
“This partnership with Merchbase goes beyond just merchandise; it’s about helping artists build sustainable careers. We’re thrilled to give our Rise Fund winners the tools to monetize their creativity and connect with fans in a new way,” said Blessing Tenumah, Artist Acquisition and Marketing Lead of Josplay.
“Merchandise is a powerful way for artists to tell their story, and we’re excited to bring this opportunity to the next wave of African music talent through the Josplay Rise Fund,” said Jermaine M. Charles, Co-founder & Managing Director of Merchbase.
The inaugural Rise Fund winner will be announced this August, with subsequent cycles opening later in 2025. This initiative not only addresses financial barriers but also positions African talent on the global stage, where merchandise can rival music as a core income driver.
