Music creation and production standards have been entirely modernized. We transitioned from physical formats like cassettes and CDs to digital downloads and streaming and as well as studio production. Today, the modern studio itself is undergoing a major revolution. Generative AI is mixing human and machine music so closely that it’s getting hard to tell them apart.

For us at Josplay, technology isn’t a threat to creativity. It’s a helpful tool. We love tools that elevate sounds and support an artist’s growth. Still, our core rule remains unchanged: honesty and authenticity in how music is made.

What Do We Call “Ai-Music”?

Using a smart supportive tool isn’t the same as letting a machine write and produce an entire song. That distinction forms the backbone of our content policy, which draws a clear line between AI-assisted and fully AI-generated music.

AI-assisted music is using AI merely as a supportive tool for tasks like mixing, mastering, or initial brainstorming. On the other hand, fully AI-generated music hands creative control over to the machine to produce the core composition, performance, or vocals without meaningful human authorship.

AI Disclosures: We’re Setting The Standard For Transparency

Some artists use AI as a smart assistant to polish a mix, reduce background noise, correct pitch, or refine a lyric. Others go further, using AI to automatically generate an entire track.

Our Approach 

We believe transparency is non-negotiable. That is why we require accurate AI disclosures at the point of delivery using industry-standard DDEX metadata. 

When AI is used only as a supporting tool and the primary creative vision remains human, no special disclosure is needed. However, when the composition, performance or vocals are created predominantly or entirely by AI, this must be clearly and honestly declared.

Penalties for Misrepresentation 

Failing to properly disclose the use of AI is a serious breach of trust. If fully AI-generated music is presented as human-created, we reserve the right to immediately suspend track distribution, withhold or reclaim any earned royalties, and take further contractual action. Honesty is essential to our platform, and we require all creators to act transparently so the music ecosystem stays fair and reliable for everyone.

We allow AI-generated and AI-assisted music to earn royalties on our platform, but transparency and fairness are essential. You must clearly disclose when AI tools are used to create your music. Failing to do so or attempting to hide AI involvement can result in your tracks being taken down, your account suspended, and your earnings withheld or reclaimed.

We strictly prohibit using AI to clone an artist’s voice, style, or likeness without explicit, written permission. Any unauthorized impersonations will be removed immediately upon request. Additionally, you must ensure you have the legal rights to use any AI software or datasets behind your work, and we may ask for proof of human contribution to protect your copyright status.

While our platform pays royalties on AI tracks, individual distribution services maintain their own rules; if a partner platform restricts AI content, their rules take precedence for streams on their service. Finally, regardless of whether music is made by humans or AI, fake plays, bots, and artificial streaming are strictly banned. Any fraudulent activity will result in a immediate loss of earnings.

In short: be honest about your AI use on our platform, get permission for voices, ensure you have the rights to your tools, and generate streams honestly.
